Louis De Gama

 

I saw Louis De Gama's work quite a few years back at a London PR so I can't tell you how happy I was to discover he'd recently opened a shop on Cheshire Street in East London. Louis is one of the most charming delightful people that I have had the pleasure to meet.

Louis de Gama gained a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design from the University of Westminster and spent his first few years after graduating working alongside Salvatore (bespoke tailoring), Tristan Webber and the renowned duo Boudicca. He spends most of his time in his studio, but if you're lucky you'll find him sewing in his shop.

His dresses fit me so well. They are very fitted pieces with sharp tailoring, dresses that drape over the body with leather straps giving the dress an edge. Satins, crochet and chiffons are beautifully stitched together. I love the fusion of fabrics - everything has an ease about it but it's quite complex and daring. I want everything in the shop!

Louis established his label Louis de Gama in 2000 with the launch of the first collection for London Fashion Week; the entire collection was subsequently bought by Brown Focus. The label is sold in selected boutiques in LA, NY, Tokyo, Dublin, Athens and Lisbon.
